We met on June 10, 2012, 9 years, almost to the day, of our wedding celebration. I (Catherine) was walking back from dinner with my friends and Eddy was walking back from the Puerto Rican Day Parade with his now groomsman, Will. We ran into each other on the corner of 59th and 5th and nothing has been the same since.
Eddy and I came to Brooklyn to look for an apartment when my job relocated us back to NY. As soon as we dropped our bags Eddy asked if I wanted to go for a walk to check out a few of the apartments and head down to the water, my favorite spot in Brooklyn. A few flight delays that day landed us under the Verrazano Bridge right at sunset. As we sat down on the grass I said, "It really doesn't get better than this, does it?" To which Eddy responded, "What if I told you it does?" and asked me to marry him. The rest Eddy will have to tell you because I was in complete shock but he claims I put the ring on before I said yes. It was a wonderful day and we love to visit that spot often.
Eddy and I were so lucky to celebrate our wedding with our parents and close friends, Kristian and Mary, in October. It definitely was not what we originally pictured, but we were so grateful to have our parents with us to celebrate. We even got to be married in the church we fell in love in. As hard as it was to have so many loved ones far away, we were grateful for those that joined virtually and we cannot wait to finally celebrate with you all in person.
