Philadelphia City Hall

Until 1986, City Hall remained the tallest building in Philly as no structure was allowed to rise above the hat on the William Penn statue. After this agreement was broken, it allegedly brought a curse on Philadelphia sports teams for the next 22 years. The curse finally ended when the Phillies won the 2008 World Series, a year after a small William Penn statue was placed atop the city's tallest building at the time.
