Cathy and Garred met during a winter storm at a LIJ medical school interview. Cathy walked into the welcome room and sat next to Garred. Garred fell in love with Cathy at that moment. Per Garred, Cathy walked with a strong strut and dressed like she was going to conquer the world. They exchanged words throughout the interview day, but separated without exchanging contacts. Months went by and both Cathy and Garred matriculated to Albert Einstein College of Medicine. They met again on Orientation day. Garred recognized Cathy. They wound up having a mutual friend, Katrina Im. Katrina was Garred's Boston College classmate and Cathy's long time childhood friend. Also, Garred's best friend Noel Simon was friends with Cathy's best friend Joanne Kim. Garred brought up the coincidence and asked for Cathy's number. They started messaging each other. Then, they wound up in the same clinical group during first year of medical school. Originally, Cathy was supposed to be partnered up with someone else, but Garred made moves so that he would be partnered up with Cathy instead. Garred would ask Cathy to lunch, dinner, study sessions, etc. Cathy had no idea these were dates! Finally, Garred organized a class ski trip and made sure Cathy would attend. One day, a very drunk mutual friend, Ryan, asked Cathy what she thought about Garred. Reluctantly she admitted she liked Garred but made Ryan promise he wouldn't tell anyone. He promised as he wobbled straight to Garred to whisper something in Garred's ear. And that is how it all started...

It was a nice day out and word got out that NYC's second lockdown would start tomorrow. Cathy was on her way to get brunch with her mentor, Dr. Christina Yang. Dr. Yang pick out a fancy spot and told Cathy to dress up. When Cathy arrived, Dr. Yang called her to notify her that the lunch reservation was actually at 1:30pm and not 1:00pm. So Cathy went to pass the time by the carousel near the water. Then Dr. Yang called her to meet her around there, eventually Dr. Yang led Cathy to the spot where Garred was waiting. Cathy was confused but walked towards Garred. Out of nowhere, Cathy's twin sister Patty and best friend Gloria jumped out and took her jacket and purse. Garred opened his arms and Cathy knew. She ran into his arms and couldn't believe it. Garred got on one knee and proposed. Cathy immediately jumped into Garred's arms, forgetting to say yes or put on the ring. It was a dream proposal. Cathy had no idea that Garred was spending the past month scoping out NYC proposal sites. She especially had no idea that Garred spent the past week traveling out to Long Island and getting permission from her parents with the help of her brother in law, Sam Kim, to translate Korean. Garred and Cathy spent the rest of the day enjoying lunch with Gloria, Patty, and Patty's fiance` Justin. They spent the rest of the day celebrating and calling their families.
