Engagement Story

October 2nd, 2025

Eduardo and Cate had always dreamed of visiting San Sebastián, Spain, and when they finally made the trip together, it already felt special. What Cate didn’t know was that Eduardo had an even bigger plan in mind. One morning — in a truly historic event — Eduardo woke up before Cate. (For context: this never happens. Cate is the early bird in this relationship.) He quietly left her sleeping and went out to “scout” the perfect proposal spot. He walked along La Concha beach and eventually discovered you could hike up Monte Urgull. He decided to save that adventure for later, so they could experience it together. On his way back to the Airbnb, he passed a cathedral and felt something tell him to go inside. A mass was taking place, so he sat down quietly and said a prayer — mostly asking for his nerves to calm down because he was absolutely panicking about the proposal. When he got back, Cate was already awake and deeply concerned: “Since when do you wake up before sunrise? And why was I not invited to this historic event?” Little did she know… The next morning, they woke up early together, and Eduardo suggested a scenic walk along La Concha — all the way to Monte Urgull. Cate thought it would be a relaxing morning, but instead found herself climbing stairs like an athlete, with Eduardo cheering her on from beside her. Romantic? Absolutely. Athletic? Definitely. When they finally reached the top, the view was absolutely breathtaking — even more than Eduardo had imagined. He suggested they take a photo and casually pulled out a “tripod” he just happened to have with him. Totally normal behavior. As Cate got ready for the picture, Eduardo turned toward her, got down on one knee, and asked her to marry him. It was just the two of them, celebrating quietly at the top of Monte Urgull, taking in the moment and the view. And then — almost immediately — they ran all the way back down and straight to the Airbnb bathroom because, apparently, love + nerves = chaos. So yes, the prayer definitely worked — the proposal was perfect. The nerves just needed a few extra minutes to catch up. From there, the celebration continued nonstop. They spent a week in Paris, just the two of them, soaking it all in. Then they traveled to Toledo to celebrate their friends’ wedding — which happened on the exact same date and in the exact same venue where Eduardo’s sister had married the year before… a wedding where Eduardo had once grabbed a microphone and publicly declared his love for Cate. (Foreshadowing? We think yes.) The trip ended in Madrid, where both of their parents joined them to celebrate the engagement together. They never could have imagined it going so perfectly… and now they are counting down the days until they celebrate the next big adventure with all of you!
