In the middle of nowhere Nebraska, sits the village of Chadron. Within this small town lies Chadron State College, where our story begins. Chris was a super handsome basketball player, Catelynn was equally beautiful but much less athletic. It was a small school and they ran in the same circles, but little Chris was shy. He remembers the very first time he saw Catelynn, in the elevator of the High Rise Dorm, but he was too scared to speak (a trend that lasted that whole year). They continued that first year coexisting, stolen glances, small conversations, and living their own lives. Until one fateful day after Chris had graduated, Catelynn took the initiative and "slid in his DMs," asking about his upcoming travels to a far off country. And as they say, the rest is history......and two kids, a house, and two dogs.
Saturday, November 16th, 2024. Chris had a plan. He told Catelynn they were going on a double date with friends from Florida, and that they should “swag out” and go to their favorite Atlanta restaurant. On the way down to ATL, she grew suspicious. Her mom had asked her to get their nails done earlier that week, and then the Florida friends called with bad news! There had been a jump park accident, and they wouldn’t be able to attend! She became even more confident that this was going to happen. When they arrived at the restaurant, Chris went in to get their table while Catelynn parked the car. He called to let her know they were going to sit at the bar…people don’t get engaged at the bar. Catelynn wasn’t completely heartbroken; they were still going to have a good date night. They ate, talked, laughed, and then headed home. When they finally arrived home, Catelynn headed to the front door as Chris ran to his car to grab something. (This is where it gets good!) As Catelynn opened the front door, she was welcomed with music and a candlelit rose-petal trail leading to the basement. As she reached the basement doors, she was greeted by their closest friends and family (yes, she cried). She made her way down the stairs, receiving a flower from each person there. When she finally got to the basement, Chris was waiting with light-up “Marry Me” signs and red heart balloons (it was very cute). Chris began his sweet and meaningful speech, and Catelynn, crying, may have said, “Just ask me already.” He did, and she said yes. They spent the rest of the night celebrating with their friends!
