Despite growing up in the same city our whole lives, we met for the very first time at our college ministry's leadership meeting. The two of us were assigned to sit at the same table where we were encouraged to pray for the campus of LSU. For the next month, we were around the same people and had mutual friends but out of shyness, rarely spoke to each other. On October 2nd, 2022, we had our first one-on-one conversation after a Refuge service where we told each other our Pine Cove name game stories amongst other things. The following day, Brady came to Catelyn's coffee shift at our church's free coffee shop and asked for her number. Quickly, the two of us were texting every day and beyond giddy! After the morning LSU vs. Tennessee football game, we had our first date at Rock-n-Sake sushi, followed by Gail's ice cream. A few days later, on October 11th, Brady asked Catelyn to be his girlfriend in her parents driveway! The remainder of the school year was filled with lots of fun memories from sporting events, puzzles, car jam sessions, and walks. We danced the night away at many events like Catelyn's debutant ball, weddings, and sorority functions (we both LOVE the dance floor!) But we also walked through hard, real life things. Brady was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor at the end of March and on April 21st, he had a serious surgery. This was a hard trial but the Lord was so faithful and it only made our relationship stronger. We also continued to grow as Catelyn spent her summer at Pine Cove and Brady was recovering in Baton Rouge; we had a five hour phone call on the weekend of June 18th that sealed the deal for Brady that he wanted to marry Catelyn! In August, Brady started his full-time job at Turner Industries and Catelyn began her senior year at LSU. By the end of a fun-filled fall, Brady asked Catelyn's Dad for his blessing to marry her. On February 24th, 2024, Brady got down on one knee at Hilltop Arboretum and Catelyn enthusiastically said YES! We will never be able to fully express our gratitude to the Lord for bringing us together. He is so sovereign over every detail and has been so kind throughout our whole relationship. We pray our marriage glorifies Him and reflects Christ's love for the church. Thank you for being here and celebrating with us as we make a covenant before God.
