how we met

online best friends. real life soulmates. since 2016.

We met on a shady chatroom website back in 2016, both just looking for nothing more than company and a bit of entertainment in the mundane of the middle of the night. We were instantly best friends and never stopped being so. What began as a flourishing online friendship very quickly became a real and sustainable force to be reckoned with. Neither of us expected to meet our future spouse that day. But the moment we hugged, both of our lives completely changed forever. That week came to be one of the best of our lives, as we saw our love for each other quickly fall into place like the last two puzzle pieces at the bottom of the bag finally being connected. You could feel the unspoken sigh of relief as if we both thought "You are effortlessly right for me".

the proposal

impatience, ice cream + incredible love

We spent the day doing a lot of our favorite things: satisfying a craving for Olive Garden Breadsticks, going on a hike, grabbing ice cream down by the pearl, seeing La Crosse from the top of a bluff, and technically trespassing at the La Crosse Sailing Club (if you're reading this Commodore, no you didn't...). The day actually began by picking up the engagement ring we'd both waited so long to finally get. Liam ended up keeping it secretly in his pocket the rest of the day. He couldn't wait to start our lives together. After an incredible day spent fantasizing about our futures together, and feeling wholly like "this is it", we ended it on Liam's dad's sailboat all by ourselves. We sat there for a moment and took in the lapping of the water on Lake Onalaska and utter freaking peace the day had brought. We took a quick selfie and excused ourselves out of the boat until we were at the tip of French Island, surprisingly alone. Liam couldn't wait another second to be engaged. He got down on one knee as helicopters flew overhead and popped the question. We hugged and cried (and cried). Later, we celebrated at Liam's dad's house with wine and the joy of calling everyone we knew to say we were engaged. Unforgettable for sure.

For all the days along the way
