A True Hampton Romance

Hampton University changed our lives. Freshman year we knew of each other due to mutual friends. Due to some occasional holland parties and a few 12-2s that year we spoke here and there. Sophomore year we joked around about trading cars for a few weeks. Second semester Junior year is where the magic began! We started talking more after a survey he "needed" me to complete for one of his aviation classes. Little did I know this was his way of asking me for my number. That night I sent him the survey back, we talked for 8 hours straight and agreed this definitely wouldn't be our last conversation. The next night, when we were both done with classes, he picked me up and took me to Cold Stone Creamery, our first "date". We talked for hours again and from then on we've be inseparable. The next year and a half was filled with magical moments as we became best friends and started actually calling each other boyfriend and girlfriend. We knew in the back of our minds that graduation was coming up and that we would be embarking on a long distance relationship from Jersey to Virginia. Even though the 3 years of long distance was challenging, they were filled with amazing moments that we still treasure to this day. From me taking 8 hour train rides to Jersey for a weekend to surprise Willie or him flying down 95 at 3am in a hurricane to Virginia, no matter what, we always made an effort to make sure that we we spent quality time with each other. After 3 years went by, I got an offer to work at a nearby hospital in Columbia, SC where Willie had moved a year prior. This was finally our chance to reunite and pick up where we left off in Hampton! Little did I know, Willie was already in the works to ask me the ultimate question before we would start this new journey together! On December 30, 2017, my boyfriend/best friend of 4 & 1/2 years became my fiancé! Willie and I can't wait to celebrate the happiest and biggest day of our lives with you!
