Cat and Reed first met while working at a children's mental health facility. Reed was on the intervention team and Cat was on the school squad. At first, Cat wondered who this quirky man was who spent his break time reading fantasy books and used his "monkey impersonation", crawling around on all fours, to make kids laugh (strange, yet endearing, it always did the trick). Reed was taken with Cat's impressively level-headed and endlessly compassionate demeanor. Over time, Reed and Cat became great friends and an even greater team when it came to de-escalating kids and supporting each other through tough times. After they both left the job, they started hanging out outside of their "work selves" and soon discovered they had an irrevocable connection, as if it were written in the stars. It was unlike anything either had ever experienced. Reed brought out the best version of Cat and Cat, the best version of Reed. They fell madly in love, and the rest is history.
When teaching in Thailand, I was told that I had to change my name to "avoid too much confusion" with the kids, as there were already Thai teachers who worked in our English Department named "Teacher Katie" and "Teacher Kate". Thus, Teacher Cat was born. Fast forward a couple years, I started the above-mentioned job as a mental health worker at a children's school/residential facility in Denver. Lo' and behold, several Katie's were already employed there. To avoid confusion over our walkie-talkie system, I reclaimed my "Cat" identity. As time went on, new friendships were formed and families were integrated, and now no one is sure what to call me. So, hi, it's me. Caiti-Cat :)
