How we met

June 18, 2017

Mmmm boba... It all started on that fateful Superbowl Sunday in February when Kyle first heard about a girl named Catherine and got his first glimpse of her from her cousin Sarah Bell. He was intrigued. Although Kyle didn't act upon this opportunity for a new relationship for another 5 months, the potential never left his mind until...June 16, 2017 when the thought crossed his mind to indulge his curiosity about this girl. He reached out to Sarah and her husband Austin to see if Catherine may be interested in meeting him. Sarah then contacted Catherine and began to tell her about her friend named Kyle and all of his striking qualities. Initially, Catherine thought “how random”, but quickly developed an interest in finding out who this man was especially because of the positive mutual relationship he had had with Sarah and Austin. And so, numbers were exchanged, conversation began, and they met for boba 2 days later. P.S. Catherine offered Kyle the choice between meeting for coffee, tea, or boba, and he chose boba. She had a feeling the date would go well :)

How he proposed

June 23, 2018

Catherine and Kyle had planned to go camping at the Mogollon Rim with Catherine's sister, Carmela and her husband, Preston about 2-3 months ahead of time. Being a professional wedding and lifestyle photographer, Carmela offered to do a couple's photoshoot of Catherine and Kyle for her portfolio because she had never photographed at the Rim before. The couple happily agreed to it. Little did Catherine know, this was turning into more than just a couple's shoot in Kyle's head. About a month and a half before the most momentous camping trip of his life, Kyle began his search for the perfect ring; and with the help of Carmela, found it in no time. They both brainstormed how to plan for the big question and where to do it at during the photoshoot. Catherine had no idea what was going on behind her back. Fast forward to the evening of the shoot. 20 minutes into it, Carmela had directed the couple to a spot on a ledge overlooking the most spectacular view off the Rim. She asked Catherine to look off into the distance while Kyle would be "doing something funny behind her back". Confused at the odd sound of the prompt, Catherine proceeded to look out at the sunset. A few seconds later, Carmela requested for Catherine to turn around to face Kyle. Still with a baffled look on her face, Catherine did so and came to see Kyle down on his knee with a huge smile, note in one hand, and ring in the other. And no, she didn't almost fall backwards off the ledge because she was pleasantly surprised. Needless to say, it was and still is the most joyous and memorable camping trip they have had to date!
