We met online and spent some time texting and talking on the phone before setting up a date. We planned to meet at Cafe Latte in Saint Paul, the perfect place to chat while enjoying some cake and coffee. We hit it off so well that a quick coffee date wasn't going to cut it, so we headed across the street to Billy's for some dinner. Still not ready to end the night, we decided to see a movie. Eventually, the perfect date had to end... so we quickly set up a second one!
It finally happened! While on a date in Stillwater celebrating four years together, we got engaged. The day didn't go exactly as planned, but it was still beautiful. We wandered the town and explored the shops before enjoying lunch together at Nacho Mama's. After lunch, we headed back to the truck to warm up for a bit, as the high for the day was a chilly 16 degrees with a lot of wind. A cold and clueless Kelly sat in the truck, ready go home. Feeling the weight of the five pound Ring Pop that he had been carrying around in his pocket all day (in lieu of the perfect ring that would be selected later), David suggested a nice walk by the water before leaving, the perfect place to pop the question. Kelly flashed him her best "you're crazy, it's freezing" look before again suggesting they head home, or perhaps see a movie instead. Dave continued to insist that they go for a walk, and when Kelly questioned why he was so determined to do so, he pulled the oversized Ring Pop out of his pocket and said "well, I wanted to ask you to marry me." It was an emotional time, but once Kelly realized what was really happening... it was a very happy day!
Although we were officially married on March 20th, 2021, we have chosen to push the reception until March 19, 2022 in the hopes that we will be able to share a special night with all of our family and friends safely and with less restrictions. The best things in life are worth waiting for!
