Danika and Nick met in high school, and went to a bonfire up in the mountains of Granite Falls. Danika actually went to this bonfire with someone else, but ended up talking to Nick the whole time because he liked her boxer puppy, Mila. They hit it off and were with each other every day that summer.

Summer of 2013 on the 4th of July, Nick asked Danika to be his girlfriend while laying in the bed of his truck watching the fireworks. Of course she said yes!

As most of you know, Nick and Danika separated for some time. However, fate drew them back together when Danika ended up moving into the same apartment complex that Nick lived in. Of course they started talking and realized that spark was still there. In October, Danika invited Nick to a fundraiser Gala where she was the one to ask Nick to be her boyfriend. He said yes!

Nick planned a hiking trip up to Heather lake with Danika and their fur babies. The trailhead to Heather Lake ended up being closed, so last minute Nick decided on Lake 22 trail instead. Once at the top of the lake, sitting down enjoying the view with the dogs, Nick proposed. Danika was surprised! And obviously said yes.
