We first met at Kao Ramen by Mama in Ventura on October 15th 2016. We both knew of each other but weren’t planning on meeting each other on this day. Cassie had only lived in California for a month. We were both invited to go to dinner with a group of friends. Since this is a very small restaurant that doesn’t take reservations, our group of six had to be split up into different tables. One table was for four people and the other was for two people. Our friends were coupled up and it would have been weird to break them up. Once the host told us about the seating arrangements, Cassie turned to Owen and said “Would you like to go on an awkward date with someone you’ve just met?” Thankfully, Owen said yes and the rest is history.

What had become a weekly ritual in the household was transformed into an unexpected proposal of epic proportions. Taco Tuesday is the day of the week we always look forward to, so why not add a proposal into the mix to make it even better? We should also note that we ate our tacos about 3 hours later after the proposal. Way too much excitement going on! 🌮🥂💍
