Bloomingdale Trail and Park

Also known as the 606, the Bloomingdale trail was a train line that has been converted into a 2.7-mile elevated span for bikers and runners, art installations, and landscape design. The trail runs from Central Park Avenue on the west end to Ashland Avenue on the east end. Current hours are 6am - 7pm.

Lonesome Rose

Mexican & Tex-Mex with Craft Cocktails - Brunch, Lunch and Dinner; There is also a hidden basement bar (you enter through the alley) with great cocktails.

Great Cuban food just around the corner from our house. Brunch, lunch and dinner.

Margie's Candies

Just around the corner from our house and a favorite of Scoop Druschke's! Head here if you're looking for a sweet treat. Locals line up down the block for one of the few tables, but you can also walk in and get your order to go.

6 Degrees

Casual spot that Cassie has been going to since moving to the neighborhood in 2010 and where we celebrated Matt's 40th birthday. They are famous for the "horseshoe sandwich" - it is massive, so come hungry.

Mindy’s Bakery

Open Saturday and Sunday, the bakery is open 8am - 12pm (or until they sell out!) You have to try the Mexican hot chocolate!

Small Cheval

Its counterpart downtown, Au Cheval, has been named best burger in the country. Small Cheval offers a more convenient location to try it for yourself.
