Cass and D's "meet-cute" has gotten some play. The story goes: they were both at an environmental justice conference, and Dimitri spotted Cass in one of the workshops. With the least creep energy possible, he found her again at lunch, and they talked a little. Cass remembers D in a suit (Damimi was definitely NOT wearing a suit), and D remembers feeling nervous about knowing which bins to discard his garbage. Business cards and smiles were exchanged... then they went their separate ways! D walked home from UW to the South End that day... but it felt like floating! It wasn't until another encounter at a BIPOC night at the climbing gym for things to catch. Still too shy to ask Cass out, D discovered they had a mutual friend, and had them make the connect (wassup Aaron Oravillo!). It's a good reminder that–even if the first moment slips away–when the world presents you with that "next chance", you cherish and seize that motha!
