Eastern Market hosts the best of Michigan's produce and food on Saturday mornings, and it's one hub for the city's street art mural scene. Check out the nearby restaurants like Suppino's Pizza (NOT Detroit style, closer to New Haven Apizza), Germack Coffee and Tea, and pick up treats at Devries and Company. Eastern Market is also home to arts centers like Redbull House of Art, Signal Return Press, and the Detroit Jazz hub Bert's Warehouse. Cassie brought Alex here and surprised him by inviting his dad and brother in from Erie to tailgate for a Vikings VS Lions game.
Pick up a copy of Belle Isle to 8 Mile: An Insider's Guide to Detroit from this gift shop in Cass Corridor, where Cassie used to live and work. Across the street is Jack White's Third Man Records (music!) and around the corner is Source Booksellers (a Black-owned indie bookstore!). Motor City Brewing Company (beer and more pizza!), Avalon Bakery (great coffee and sea salt chocolate chip cookies!), and Bronx Bar (cheap beer! Burgers! Best juke box!). Cassie and Alex went to Bronx Bar before their engagement shoot and they got to run the juke box to hype themselves up for pictures.
For fans of thrifting and books, John K. King offers several stories full of beautiful full-color art coffee table books, rare printings and antique travel guides. Get lost here for an hour or two.
