How We Met

Who said Tinder wasn't for finding your soulmate?

On June 27, 2018, Cassie and Sean matched on Tinder. It was a MATCH made in heaven! Sean messaged Cassie: “Hey, how about a mid-day Tinder message, want to get drinks at 8?” Cassie loved how straightforward Sean seemed, so she agreed to meet him at Vesuvio’s bar in San Francisco. When Cassie laid eyes on Sean, she couldn’t stop herself from exclaiming “You are so much cuter in person!” Oops… The two shared hours of lovely conversation and felt an odd sense of comfort right off the bat. When it was time to go, Sean said he was going to walk home. Cassie agreed to walk that way, she was going in that direction anyway (yeah, like 3 miles in that direction). When they arrived at Sean’s apartment in Nob Hill, Sean invited Cassie to his rooftop for some wine. Cassie agreed (even though entering a stranger’s home is not usually how she rolls). They enjoyed wine, the city skyline, and many laughs. Unfortunately, this perfect night had to come to an end (it was a Wednesday after all). Sean walked Cassie to the Uber waiting for her downstairs. As Cassie was about to leave, Sean leaned in for a kiss. Cassie dodged and awkwardly mumbled/yelled “sorry, I don’t kiss on first dates” and jumped into the Uber. They were both mortified. Even after such an unfortunate farewell, they were both very smitten. Cassie couldn’t stop thinking about how easy it was to be with Sean. It was almost as if they had known each other in another life. And Cassie was not the only one, it only took meeting Cassie one time for Sean to tell his housemates “I just met my future wife.”

Proposal

Never Propose and Drive, Folks

Cassie thought nothing of it when Sean suggested a hike on Saturday. Cassie also thought nothing of it when Sean asked her to bring an extra set of clothes to hang out with friends after the hike. Cassie started to get suspicious when she showed up in her usual “athleisure” hiking attire and Sean nervously exclaimed “you are going to wear THAT!?” After Cassie explained that this is how she usually dresses for hikes, Sean retorted “well, it’s more of a walk.” Cassie was confused, but Sean insisted that he take her back to apartment and help her choose the perfect outfit. At this point, Cassie was VERY suspicious…why would she need the perfect outfit for a hike-walk? Nevertheless, Cassie went with the flow and agreed to wear jeans, a long sleeve shirt, and a leather jacket (there were no hiking boots involved). Sean was nervous, quiet, and distracted as he drove Cassie towards the Golden Gate Bridge. He was trying to text, follow his GPS, drive the car, and maintain a casual conversation with Cassie. Needless to say, they almost died, and Sean missed the only turn in a 5-mile loop, so they had to go alllll the way around again. When they finally arrived at the beautiful lookout spot next to the Golden Gate Bridge stanchion, Cassie looked around, but she did not see any photographers or family members. She was ABOUT to be very disappointed, but before she could, Sean got down on one knee and asked, “Cassie, will you marry me?” In that moment, Cassie looked into Sean’s deep green eyes and saw the love of her life and a future full of laughs, adventures, and dogs. She nodded “yes” through tears of joy. Next, to Cassie’s surprise, the hidden photographer, Joel, revealed himself (Thank you Joel!). The engaged couple then drove back to San Francisco to a surprise engagement party planned by Sean (wow, WHAT an act of service). It was a night they will never forget!
