Cassidy and Roland met in their first quarter as freshmen at the University of Washington. After admiring her from afar for weeks, Roland found Cassidy’s number in the U.W. student directory (thank you Michael Hwang!) and sent a text to ask if she would be his date to an upcoming fraternity event. Although she did not yet know who he was, she said "yes". And that was the greatest leap of faith she would ever take.

Roland surprised Cassidy by proposing to her at her parents’ house on Bainbridge Island, Washington. Just feet from a cliff and with Seattle and the Puget Sound in the backdrop, Roland asked Cassidy to spend the rest of her life with him. Without hesitation, she again said “Yes!”
