Parm and I originally met at a college party in Spring of 2013 while he was up visiting his cousin at the U of M. I was a freshman there at the time. We never really thought much of it and didn’t speak or see each other for over 3 years! We reconnected over social media when Parm finally decided to join the modern world and get a Facebook! It was actually on his 26th birthday (11/19/16) when he reached out. Nothing really came about from our “hey, how have you been’s?” I was really busy with my first adult job along with traveling and applying for graduate school programs. It was finally after I got back from a 3 week trip in Europe with my sister, Lexie, and Parm had gotten back from a Hawai’i vacation with his bestie, Charlie, that Parm and I started getting to know one another over messaging. Parm takes full credit for reaching out once again and starting our relationship, and I will give him that! It almost took us three months of talking to finally go out on a date! But he was patient with my busy schedule and we finally had our first date in July of 2017 at Lake Bde Maka Ska in Minneapolis. We only had our parking meter paid for 2 hours and somehow we lost track of time and we were there over 4 hours! We then went and visited my bestie, Brandi, at a restaurant/bar she worked at and talked there for a couple more hours. (It’s the real deal when you’re meeting friends on the first date!) Parm and I finished off the night grilling burgers at my apartment (I burnt them to a crisp and he did not complain once!) and stayed up talking until 4 in the morning! And despite what most of you may think, I was not the only one talking! From there on, it was Parm and I FaceTiming a couple hours every night and seeing each other on the weekends as I lived in Minneapolis and he lived in Rochester. Parm asked me to be his girlfriend on August 4, 2017 and that is when our story began. <3
Parm and I took a trip to the Wisconsin Dells for our 2 year dating anniversary the first week of August 2019. We spent the first day doing some of the activities he remembered doing with his family when he was a kid. The second day we spent all day at a water park mostly standing in lines, but that was okay because I had some good company ;). On Sunday, it was our 2nd dating anniversary, and we decided to check out the local Henry’s State Park. First off we did a short hike that ended up having way too many people on it as Parm recalls, then we went on a walk around the lake and got swarmed by bumble bees, and finally we took a paddle boat ride on the lake and got extremely sweaty in the hot, August sun. All of these events, kept interrupting Parm’s attempts at proposing! (As he later told me). That evening we were going on a dinner cruise on the Wisconsin River. We both got all dressed up and ready to go. Before we left, Parm told me he had a present for me but that it wasn’t for our 2nd year dating anniversary. It was a gift for the rest of our lives. He asked me to be his wife, and I was more than happy to say “Of course!”
