Max and Cassidy met Freshman year of high school where they both went to a mutual friends Halloween party. Max tried hiding in a pile of leaves to jump out and scare Cassidy and her friends as they walked up to the house. Max's shoes were sticking out, so he wasn't very sneaky. While he wasn't successful in scaring them, he was successful at beginning a friendship.

They quickly became best friends throughout high school Skyping every Sunday, having car talks, going on little adventures, and talking on the phone until the sun came up. When graduation came, they were very sad to say goodbye as they were both going to different colleges.

As they adjusted to college life, there was one thing that they both realized they didn't want to adjust to. So, Max visited Cassidy in college, and they finally began dating!

Cassidy and Max took a camping trip to Wyalusing State Park Labor Day weekend. They went on a trail that had two waterfalls. When they approached the first waterfall, Max asked Cassidy to climb down to see it better. It was very muddy and steep, so Cassidy said no without realizing that Max was trying to propose. Max, knowing there was a second waterfall, allowed them to go to the next one. It was the perfect opportunity as there was no mud and could walk right up to it. Max, then got on one knee and asked Cassidy to marry him.
