Kenneth and I met on February 17, 2015...the day before his 21st birthday. He always said meeting me was the best birthday present he had ever received. We met through volunteering at an organization at UTSA. That particular day we were tutoring middle school students in math. After tutoring ended we continued to volunteer together, get to know one another and go on a date or just be together any chance we got. May was soon approaching--which meant Kenny would be graduating from UTSA and going back to Houston for dental school. I knew that him leaving so soon after meeting him would stop all progress in our relationship. To my surprise Kenny told me that he was staying in San Antonio. He got a job that summer and we continued to grow and develop our relationship together. The dreaded August came where he would have to leave. From August 2015 to August 2016 we were long distance. We traveled 3+ hours every single Friday to be with one another. So many miles on the road, long phone calls, texts sent to one another. The long distance finally came to an end in August 2016 when I moved to Houston. The rest is history!
May 11, 2018 was a huge day for Kenneth and me. I FINALLY graduated from nursing school that day. There was already so much joy and happiness in the room at my graduation party--I didn't think that it could get any better. I was mistaken, it got A LOT better. Little did I know Kenneth had devised a proposal plan beyond anything I could ever imagine. I had been opening up graduation gifts and Rene and Kenny told me that they had one more gift for me, but I had to be blindfolded. So there I sit blindfolded with my thoughts. I thought, "Is it a puppy?" Then I smelled candles burning. My second thought was, "Is it more cake? Gosh I really can't eat any more cake." Finally the blind fold was taken off and their stood my perfect Kenny and all of our friends and family around us with candles lit. He sang "Bones" by Lewis Watson, which had been our song since we first met all the way back in 2015. After he was finished, he popped the big question. I instantly said yes. We celebrated the rest of the night away and couldn't stop thinking about how excited we were to start our future together.
