Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

We are so excited to have you celebrate with us on our special day! For the wedding, we kindly request formal attire to help make the occasion feel extra special. To add to the fun, we suggest a deep jewel tone color palette for your outfits—think rich, beautiful shades like emerald green, sapphire blue, topaz yellow, or amethyst purple. We want everyone to feel elegant, radiant, and truly part of the celebration as we create unforgettable memories together. So go ahead and dress to impress in these stunning, vibrant hues—your amazing style will help set the perfect tone for our big day! We can't wait to see you all dressed to the nines!

Question

What time should you arrive at Our Lady Star of the Sea?

Answer

To ensure everything runs smoothly, we kindly ask that you arrive no later than 2:15 PM. The ceremony will begin promptly after, and we don’t want you to miss a moment of the celebration! When you arrive, we’ll have programs ready for you, which will guide you through our Nuptial Mass. On the back of the program, you’ll find a seating guide to help you find your perfect pew.

Question

Are children allowed?

Answer

Although we absolutely adore your children, due to venue capacity limits, we had to have only the children in the wedding party attend. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to celebrating with you!

Question

Camcorder Extraordinaire!

Answer

You may find yourself with a camcorder in hand during our big day! We’re encouraging our guests to take a moment to record themselves and share any advice they might have for us as we begin this new chapter. Feel free to capture any special moments you find meaningful and help us see our wedding through your eyes. Don’t be shy—pass the camcorder along and take it on little adventures throughout the day. We can’t wait to relive these memories through the unique perspective of our loved ones!

Question

Where is the afterparty?

Answer

The afterparty will be held at the lively downtown bars in St. Augustine, and we can’t wait to keep the celebration going! We encourage everyone to explore the bars together or in smaller groups, enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of the historic district. While we’d love to see you out and about with us, please don’t feel obligated to stay just with our group—St. Augustine has so much to offer, whether you’re looking for a quieter dive bar to relax in or a place to drop it low to some beats! Of course, we want everyone to have a blast with a few good drinks, dancing, and lots of live music, but we also encourage everyone to drink responsibly and look out for each other. It’s going to be a night full of fun, laughter, and unforgettable memories—see you out there!

Question

How to get a guest portrait done?

Answer

As a token of our appreciation for you being part of our special day, we are excited to offer all of our guests a professional portrait, either individually or with your family and loved ones. We truly appreciate the time and effort you’ve taken to dress up and join us, and we want to make sure you have a beautiful photograph to cherish from this wonderful celebration. We will be sending out more details 2-3 day's before the wedding! Once the photos are ready, we’ll be sure to provide you with a digital copy so you can keep this special memory forever. We can’t wait to capture these moments with you!

Question

Your Guide to Catholic Wedding FAQs

Answer

.

Question

What to do between time of ceremony and reception.

Answer

Between the ceremony and reception, you’ll have some time to relax and explore the charm of St. Augustine! Yes, we’re talking about that classic "Catholic wedding gap"—just enough time to recharge before the next celebration! The ceremony will conclude around 3:30 PM, and the reception will begin at 6:00 PM, about a 45-minute drive from the ceremony location. We encourage everyone to take this opportunity to stroll through the historic downtown, check into your hotel if needed. If you’re looking for fun things to do in St. Augustine that won’t take more than an hour, we recommend a visit to the beautiful Castillo de San Marcos, take a walk along St. George Street to browse unique shops, or enjoy the peaceful ambiance of the historic Waterfront Park. Whatever you choose, we hope you enjoy this little break before the celebration continues!

Question

Will this be a full Catholic Nuptial Mass?

Answer

Our wedding will be a full Catholic Mass, and we are so excited to share this beautiful and sacred ceremony with you. The Mass is a central part of our faith and holds deep significance in our hearts as it symbolizes the sacrament of marriage, which is such an important part of our love story. We feel truly blessed to begin our married life surrounded by our loved ones as we celebrate this sacred moment together. Thank you for joining us in this meaningful and joyful occasion!

Question

Should I receive Communion?

Answer

During our wedding Mass, we will have the privilege of receiving Communion, which is a beautiful part of our Catholic faith. If you are Catholic and in a state of grace, we invite you to join us in receiving the Eucharist. However, if you are not Catholic or unable to receive Communion for any reason, we warmly encourage you to still participate by receiving a blessing from the priest. To receive a blessing, simply approach the altar with your arms crossed over your chest, which signals to the priest that you wish to receive a blessing instead of Communion. This is a meaningful way to share in the sacredness of the moment, and we are so grateful for your participation.
