We met working at a grocery store - both of our first jobs. Our first conversations consisted of weird popsicle flavors and a college dance class. So romantic - right? I (Cassidy) gave him a nickname that he pretended to hate and that's where it all started.
Yay!
It was a rainy & chilly October Friday. Earlier in the week, they had planned on going to the pumpkin patch that day. Cassidy thought about rescheduling their trip to the pumpkin patch, but Carston was determined to still go despite the yucky weather. So, they did! With umbrella in hand, they arrived to a very empty and muddy pumpkin patch. After about 30 minutes of wandering around the corn maze (not following the map at all), they realized that they were totally lost. They kept circling back to the sames spots. Cassidy was looking in the opposite direction of Carston as she was in deep thought about how to get out of the maze. When she spun around, she saw Carston down on one knee (in the muddy dirt) with a beautiful ring in his hands. She kept asking him if he was joking (he wasn't) because she couldn't believe it. She said yes! Though they were giddy from their engagement, they were still lost in a corn maze. It was nearing sunset and the corn-maze was set to close very soon. They remained lost and wandering with no sense of direction for about 45 minutes in the cold rain until ultimately, they gave up. They ended up having to cut through the corn stalks to find their way out. They walked in as boyfriend/girlfriend and walked out as fiance/fiancee!!
