Main Street Falmouth is an exciting lifestyle destination that offers a unique blend of shopping, dining, and entertainment options. The street is lined with a variety of shops, restaurants, and businesses, all of which contribute to the vibrant atmosphere.
If you’re looking for a classic summer beach, Old Silver Beach is a top destination on Buzzards Bay. The beach is divided into two sections: one side for Falmouth residents, and the other side for visitors. Both offer parking, food, and a bath house, so you can spend a full day here having fun in the powdery sand. It can get crowded, so make sure to come early!
The Knob, located in Woods Hole, is a major attraction to the public for its nature walk, birding, marsh, coastal bank and its spectacular views of Quissett Harbor and Buzzards Bay. From the top of the Knob on a clear day you see New Bedford in the west, the canal entrance to the north, and the Elizabeth Islands to the south. Enjoy the magnificent view near the top rim of boulders.
Take a journey of discovery down the Shining Sea Bikeway, a 10.7-mile bike path through Falmouth. This paved, multi-use trail is more than simply a place to go bicycling, running, and rollerblading – it’s a gateway to hidden views of Cape Cod’s shining seas, from the harbors and salt marshes of Buzzards Bay to the sand and surf of Vineyard Sound.
At this town-owned lighthouse, managed by the Friends of Nobska Light, you can tour the historic building and enjoy a picnic, go fishing, or explore the shoreline of Nobska Point. Just across the street from the light, a sandy path leads down to a small overlook with a bench that looks out on Nobska Point, a rocky prominence on Vineyard Sound at the entrance to Woods Hole. Carefully make your way down the steep trail that leads from the overlook to explore the rocks of Nobska Point, where you’ll find tide pools busy with crabs, snails, and seaweed at low tide. The point is also a great place to watch for the variety of seabirds that frequent these shores and soar over Vineyard Sound.
