Perugia is the capital of Umbria and is close to the villa. Perugia is a medieval 13th century town with art, history and Gothic cathedral houses. It is also the chocolate capital of Italy! Mike and I visited this adorable town and loved eating tons of truffles (another thing they are known for) and exploring the city.
Assisi is an adorable town nearby. It is smaller than Perugia, but many visit the town for Basilica of San Francesco, a historic church and the tomb of St. Francis.
Mike and I visited this wonderful winery. The experience and wine were great! They also make their own olive oil (grab a travel size one to take home and some truffles!)
