How we met

Thank you, Tinder.

On January 6th, 2018, John and Cassie met on Tinder. During his junior and her senior year of different high schools. John's friend Drew, and his sister Kati pushed him to get back out there. Cassie decided to do it and tell no one, maybe she'd feel a little less lonely, maybe she'd make a friend, but definitely not meet anyone. John was on Tinder for about 3 weeks and was about to delete the app- when on a slow lunch shift at the restaurant 5 minutes away from his childhood home, Cassie came across his profile. She thought he was cute, but she had never actually intended on meeting anyone in person, that would be insane. Plus, when she instagram stalked John, a guy she worked with, Drew (as previously established as johns close friend), was in his photos and that fact made him both more appealing and more terrifying. More appealing because he wasn't fully an internet stranger anymore, but Cassie and Drew had only worked together a few times, she didn't know him, or what kind of friends he had, so she decided to do nothing and go back to work. After work that night she opened the app again- and for those who don't know, on Tinder, you can't move on to a new person until you decide to swipe right if you like them, left if you aren't interested, and up if you SUPER like them. After another few moments of indecision, when meaning to close the app, Cassie accidentally SUPER liked John. The panic set in. 'maybe he wont swipe right on me and i'll never have to speak to him ever, it'll be fine.' She rationalized, and didn't touch her phone until next morning. When she woke up to a Tinder message. "Hey, thanks for the super like! Saw in your bio that you are down to talk about art. what kind of stuff do you do?" He asked. She was nervous, but something inside of her told her she had to know him. So she replied, and he replied, and she replied. She used a clever pickup line on him, (which worked), and her school was having a winter art show, so they decided to meet in person, with all of her friends. They were both very nervous. He couldn't feel his arms or legs and asked if he could "borrow" the water fountain, and though they had already been speaking over text and video for 2 weeks, she introduced herself and shook his hand. (Its still a joke to this day.) Promptly after leaving the art show, he texted her asking for a first date. She said yes. His parents drove, because neither of them had a license, and they talked for 2 and a half hours. He walked her to her sister's door, and they were too nervous to kiss. So, she invited him to her niece Olive's play. Olive's younger sister Meadow, roughly at the age of 4, who was notoriously shy, asked to sit next to John, in the farthest seat possible from her parents, siblings, or Cassie (who was her nanny at the time). Cassie definitely took that as a sign. She also took John disappearing to buy a rose not only for Olive in the show, but for Cassie, Sage and Meadow, as a sign. When they dropped him off in his driveway, under the stars, John asked Cassie to be his girlfriend. She said yes, and they shared an awkward kiss that made them both laugh and swear "I can do better!" That was not the last time he asked her something under the stars. Nor was it the last time she said yes.

A note on dress code :)

We’re so so excited to celebrate with you! We ask that you please dress somewhere between cocktail and semi formal, and that you dress within a warm fall color palette. Our wedding’s inspiration is rooted heavily in Cassie’s love for everything forest fairy, and you are encouraged to ask yourself, “if I were a fairy going to a fairy wedding what would I wear?” (should you wish:) Green is reserved for the wedding party, but patterns are welcome and think along the tones of autumn leaves!
