Jason organized a day trip to the Huntington Library for my 25th birthday. He also invited his sister Marissa to take photos of the scenery and us. Marissa is a good friend and an great amateur photographer so I thought nothing of it. I’m also terrible at remembering to take any photos, so it was nice to have someone else there to document the day. Jason, Marissa, and I strolled around the gardens enjoying the sunshine. I confess that I also gave some impromptu lectures on Greek mythology and poisonous plants in the Camellia and Shakespeare Gardens. Jason is always indulgent with me when I get rolling on a subject. We eventually got to the Rose Garden. This garden has always been one of my favorite gardens. There’s something about a garden full of blooming roses that made me feel bit like a princess. Marissa took some great photos of us with different statues and roses. We walked over to a section of the Rose Garden with a paved road and lots of climbing roses. Jason suggested the we take a photo there. As we got posed and Marissa got ready with her camera, Jason suddenly turned to me and dropped down on one knee. In front of everyone (there was actually quite a number of people milling about), he reached into his pocket, pulled out a ring box, and asked me to marry him. I was so shocked and surprised, but I had my answer ready. I immediately said yes!! He looked a little shocked that I actually said yes. People around us cheered and clapped and Marissa caught the whole thing on video. The first thing I did afterward was to call my family and friends. Apparently everyone was in on it except for me. I had known for a long time that I would marry Jason evenutally. It still makes me laugh that he second guessed my answer and asked me “Really?!?!” when I said yes. But there was no doubt in my mind he is the one for me and I plan to be extraordinarily happy with the man who is simultaneously the love of my life and my best friend ❤️.
There will be a drop box at the wedding. We currently are saving up for a place, so red evelopes would be very helpful for our goal of becoming homeowners in the near future. Thank you all!
