Collin and I first met while working together at a summer camp in Ledbetter, Texas. We became friends and, at the end of the summer, both headed to College Station for the fall semester at Texas A&M. That year would be my freshman year and Collin's junior year on campus. Over the fall and spring semesters, we spent time together attending football and baseball games, catching movies, and having fun! Believe it or not, if you ask any of our friends who knew us during that first year, I was VERY shy and often said only a few words. For those of you who have known me all my life, believe me.. it's true! As outgoing and social as Collin is I eventually came out of my shell, and by the following summer we were dating!
Ahh yes, the thing that started all this wedding stuff - The Proposal. I have to start by thanking Jacob. Without his help I wouldn't have been able to pull the proposal off. Although, now that I think about it, with his help I almost wasn't able to pull it off.. more on that thought later. Now to set the scene. Cass and I were on our annual trip to float the Guadalupe River with all our friends. Jacob was in on the proposal plan from the get-go and was put in charge of holding onto the ring. After stressing out all weekend trying to figure out when the best time to pop the question would be, I finally saw the opportunity. The place we were staying at had a big deck out back with a really pretty view overlooking a valley. I lured Cass out to the deck by telling her we were going to take some pictures together. I planned on having Cass take an "artsy" picture of just her standing by herself with her back to the camera and looking out at the valley. While she was turned away Jacob would hand me the ring. Now this is where the proposal almost didn't happen. See, as I mentioned earler, Jacob was in charge of the ring. As he and I walked outside together, he looked and me and asked ,"you have the ring right?" As you may have guessed, I did not have the ring. I frantically replied, " I thought you had it! You're supposed to have it!" Jacob proceeded to run into the house the fastest I have ever seen him run in order to retrieve the ring. Fast forward to Cass finally in position to take the "artsy" picture looking off into the distance (which she thought was the dumbest thing to do, may I add). Boy, was she surprised when she turned around and found me down on one knee shaking like a leaf. I could barely get the words, "will you marry me?" out before she said yes!
