We met through work, I was working in the kitchen at Siren Song. Chris was coming into be executive chef, the first time we met eyes he felt so familiar. He is a great teacher and noted good plating is letting people eat with their eyes, showing them what they are about to enjoy. I took his note creative liberty with the next plate, a beet and burrata board. I used the remnants of the red beets on my gloves to paint the burrata a magenta and cut a crescent slice to expose the creamy insides. I like to joke that is when he fell in love with me because he was so impressed. But really we became friends first hanging out with the kitchen crew but we realized we were only in search of each other’s company. Started to go on dates after he left the restaurant and discovered we are very similar and both have a strong passion for food, music and our community. We fell in love and I moved myself in at his families property soon after and he made sure I was comfortable there literally building our home.
