Our Love Story

Written by Casie Pedregon (soon to be) Williams

Our love started in high school, following many FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) meetings and bible studies. I wish we could say it was love at first sight, but if you know either one of us, you know we are both too methodical and realistic to ever believe in such a thing. After getting to know more about one another, we awkwardly fell in love. Our love has always been easy; the distance made it difficult. After graduation, Josiah left for college baseball, officially transitioning our easy and seamless relationship into a long-distance relationship. We did well for one year but decided to go our separate paths during college. In full transparency, we tried dating many times throughout college, but the distance was never in our favor. Talk about the right person, wrong time. When Josiah decided to embark on his journey with the Navy, he kindly informed me, and I nearly fainted. I always imagined Josiah in my life but never thought he would permanently leave El Paso. I offered to write him letters; I did not know my feelings would overcome my entire body and allow me to fall desperately in love with this man once more. Unknowingly to either of us, our long-distance journey in the past was only a trial run. The real test was just beginning. For two years, Josiah embarked on the greatest and probably, most challenging training of his life, both physically and mentally. I admired him for his strength and stayed by his side, providing the most support possible. Over time, we decided that we needed to be together. We began to plan for a new chapter in our lives together in San Diego. Shortly after, Josiah graduated from his training and proposed to me on my Abuela's birthday. Little did he know that this symbolism meant everything to my family and me. The urgency of our wedding ceremony may seem new and oddly quick to you, but to us, we have been ready to tie the knot for quite some time now. We are excited to announce and celebrate our love for one another with our closest family and friends. We can't wait to dance the night away in honor of our love and begin this new chapter together!
