Ryan and I are both teachers at Massey Hill Classical High School in Fayetteville, NC. He teaches math and I teach orchestra. 6 years ago I moved to Fayetteville and started working at Massey Hill. I knew Ryan as the math teacher who the kids called DJ Cash Cash. I can remember the first time I met him he came to watch the band students. I was about to leave to go teach at my second school. He was super quiet but nice. He remembers not wanting me to leave so that he could talk to me more. Over the years I would hear about him watching my students when I couldn't be there but that was about it. My students would once in a while mention how perfect we would be together. One student said, "He's a strong Christian and you are too. You are perfect for each other! My goal is for you two to date each other before I graduate." Fast forward to December of 2017. He messaged me over Facebook asking me how my Christmas was. We started talking and a couple days later he asked me out on a date. I said no. The worst mistake I ever made. But he was persistent. He kept talking to me: asking me how my day was and telling me how much he enjoyed different performances that my orchestra did. In May of 2018, I was having a bad day. He was the sweetest man I have ever met. He was making me laugh and convincing me to get up and go to the pool. The next day after church, he convinced me to go to lunch with him. In his words, he "kidnapped me." And we've been together ever since, much to the excitement of all of our students.
