I finished coaching soccer on Friday and headed home. When I walked in, I saw that Tyler had put roses out on the counter for me. I thought "that's sweet" and went to find him. I turned the corner into the living room to find him standing there, all dressed up. Not thinking anything of it, I told him he looked nice and reminded him that we had plans to go to dinner with my parents. That's when he told me he had a surprise date night planned for us! I immediately asked if my mom knew, since we had plans to go to dinner, and he said that he had already talked to her and taken care of it. Then, he asked me if I had noticed that the boys (the puppies) had bow ties on. He said they wanted to be dressed up for the *special occasion*. I turned around to look at the puppies as I asked him "What special occasion?". When I turned back to him, he was down on one knee and asked "will you marry me". My immediate reaction was “What? Are you serious? What?” before actually saying YES! In soccer clothes and crocs.. Shocked was an understatement! We drank some wine and relaxed together for a bit. Then he told me that he promised my parents we would stop by their house first, before we called anyone, so I began getting ready for our date night. When we got to my parents house, our families and close friends were all waiting there to surprise me! There were decorations, champagne toasts, charcuterie boards, and signature cocktails (made by Christopher, Bryan, and Audrey) to celebrate the big news! It was an unforgettable night packed full of love, excitement, and pure joy. Xoxo Casey
I was coming home on leave from the Marine Corps for Christmas in 2017 with a three and a half hour layover in the Atlanta Airport. My first flight arrived, and I went to find a bar in the Delta terminal where I could get an appetizer and a few drinks before boarding the last leg of my flight home. I sat at the bar so I could talk with other people who were traveling for Christmas. It wasn’t long before everyone on a stool knew where each person was from, where they were heading, and what they would be doing for Christmas. We all made a game of it as quite a few people passed through. Then, one hour before my flight, in walks Casey in a bright red “MERRY” Christmas sweater. She sat down and I immediately asked her where she was from and where she was headed. As soon as she said “Shalimar, Florida,” everyone at the bar let out a big “Uhhh ohhhh” and I explained that’s where I was heading, too. We began talking and found out we were on the same flight back. She let me buy her drink, and we headed to our gate. On the way, I asked if she would like to try to sit together on the plane, and she said "I don't want to ask, but sure!" Once we got on, I asked to trade seats with the man sitting next to her and he said he would gladly swap with me. We got to know each other on the short flight home and exchanged information. I tried to keep in contact with her the best I could over the next few months or so, but we both lived in different places and ended up losing touch for a while. About a year after I moved back, Casey also moved back, and we began running into each other around town. Finally, 2 years later (not for lack of trying), we hit it off again at mutual friends' wedding and have been inseparable ever since. - Tyler
