Portofino provides complimentary boat transfers upon arrival and departure from San Pedro. Once in San Pedro, they will arrange for you transport to the resort. You can also book a golf cart rental for the duration of your stay (see "Do we need to rent a car?" FAQ for more details.

Nope! Cars aren't commonly used in Belize. Golf carts are the preferred way to around. What's the weather like in Belize?

Belize is warm year-round! Expect temperatures in the 80s F, with a tropical breeze. Light clothing, swimsuits, and sunscreen are a must!

Do I need a passport?

Answer

Yes! A valid passport is required for entry into Belize. No visa is needed for U.S. and Canadian travelers staying under 30 days. You will also need to fill out an immigration form while you're traveling. We recommend you do this the day before you leave for Belize. Belize uses the Belize Dollar (BZD), but U.S. dollars are widely accepted (exchange tare: $1 USD = $2 BZD). Most places accept cash and major credit cards.

One thing to be aware of is that plumbing in Belize isn't built for flushing toilet paper - it needs to be tossed in the trash instead. If you'e like an extra level of cleanliness, consider bringing a portable bidet! They're easy to use and can be found on Amazon for under $10.
