We know travel for the wedding will mean extra time and expense for everyone, but we strongly recommend arriving Thursday or Friday at the latest! Leadville is the highest elevated town in the country, at 10,200 ft, which can cause altitude sickness even in those already living at elevation. Coming in a day early or spending some time adjusting in Denver first before driving up to Leadville can help you to feel your best for the weekend. We'll also be hosting a welcome dinner on Friday night, so we want to share as much as possible with everyone!
HYDRATION is the most important factor! Start increasing your water intake by at least an extra bottle per day, a week before, and prioritize it while in CO. Especially when it comes to drinking alcohol, a general rule of thumb is 1 drink at sea level equals 2 drinks at elevation. Make sure to alternate with water, and adding electrolyte mixes can be a big help as well!
While we love all the little ones in the families of our invited guests, our wedding weekend is a 21+ event.
Take a look at our dress code page for general ideas! Please keep in mind that the weather in the mountains can be variable in mid-September, so bringing layers is recommended! Here is the link to the pinterest board for inspiration as well: https://pin.it/5zBhyJdYC
The drive from Denver out to Leadville is completely on established mountain highways with no off roading or tight blind curves. We highly recommend a rental car for your party, and potentially carpooling with other guests! Near the end of the drive to the ceremony site will have a small stretch of maintained dirt road, but AWD is not required.
Last day to RSVP is July 31st! We highly recommend booking travel and hotels asap since the autumn season will get very busy for outdoor enthusiasts in that area, as well as a local event in Leadville over the weekend.
