When I first moved to Austin for college 9 years ago, I was a transfer student and struggled initially to find friends. For those that know Austin, there's tons to do, but it can be really hard to actually find your community. I did everything; I joined a local bowling league, church groups, a social volleyball team, volunteered locally, etc. I was alone and bored on the first night in my new home, so of course I was scrolling through one of my apps. Now yes, I was also on dating apps at the time, but this app wasn't one of them. So I was caught by surprise when this cute guy's photo showed up on my screen (scroll down to see proof!). I saw he was online and decided to shoot my shot. We texted and talked on the phone non-stop until meeting a day later. We went to the movies, saw Godzilla, and shared cheese sticks. The rest is history!
