His Version - Our first date was unforgettable. We started things off at Longhorn Steakhouse, where we enjoyed delicious steaks and enjoyed many laughs over dinner. Afterward, we headed to the bowling alley, where our competitiveness certainly came out, but the fun never stopped. Between the playful trash talk, we quickly realized there was something special between us. It was the best first date I could’ve imagined. Her Version - Thinking back about our first date I remember how nervous I was. Driving down the 30 40min to Fort Walton from Crestview I was a whole bundle of nerves. We had been texting and messaging on snap chat for a little while before we went on our first date. He took me to Longhorn. Not at any point did I feel awkward or anything. We were talking, laughing, enjoying each other’s company. I was thinking he looked hotter in person. There was just this feeling I had like I didn’t want this night to end. I remembered Fort Walton had a bowling alley. So, I asked if he wanted to go bowling after dinner. I was a bit nervous I didn’t know if he would want to. Then he said you ready to lose. We arrived at bowling got our shoes and a couple more drinks. After the first round of bowling, I learned I really suck and really wanted to put bumpers up to make it more even. Casey told me no you can do this. I felt encouraged and started having fun and didn’t worry about how horrible I was at bowling.
His Version - When it came time to propose, I’ll admit, I was more nervous than I can ever remember. The setting couldn’t have been more perfect. The beach, the sunset, and the sound of the waves made it a surreal proposal spot. I am fairly certain we both blacked out at some point and just regrouped when I asked her to marry me. Of course, I opened the ring box upside down because things were going just a little bit too well. It made us both laugh and we almost forgot to actually put the ring on her finger. It will forever be one of my favorite memories; the whole proposal was “just us.” Her Version - I was completely blind-sided. I didn’t know he was going to propose at all. He had been acting completely normal all week even as far as complaining about not sleeping well. He told me in the middle of the week his best friend Bryer had a company beach day and was going to get very drunk and asked us to drive him home. From what I have heard about Bryer, I didn’t think anything of it. We had plans for Saturday, including watching my nephews play sports and visiting a pumpkin patch. We had to make a pitstop at my mom’s before heading to the pumpkin patch that took longer than expected. We waited and waited for hours, and Casey told me before we needed to leave the pumpkin patch by like 3:30ish to make sure we got back in time for us to go get Bryer and go to my late birthday dinner. So, I was getting nervous and sad that we wouldn’t be able to go to the pumpkin patch. By 1:50p we still hadn’t left to go to the pumpkin patch, and I said let’s go home and get some food and coffee. So, I can take my time getting ready. While I was getting ready, I was FaceTiming my best friend Sabrina, and we joked that Casey was gonna propose at the pumpkin patch or something, but I brushed her off, thinking “we gotta go save drunk Bryer”. Before heading out, Casey said that Bryer asked if we could bring him a shirt since he couldn’t find his. From the stories I heard about him, this sounded normal. We finally get in the truck, and we are all dressed up. We pull into a small parking lot where Bryer was supposed to be. We head out to the beach to look for Bryer because drunk lost his shirt. I figured Casey is going to have to carry him back to the truck because I’m looking around and not seeing any signs of a company party and wondered how far did this kid walk. I see people staring at us and tell Casey. Which now I know was the secret photographer Casey had hired. We get to a spot near the water and out of the corner of my eye I see someone move closer to us. Like that’s weird. I am looking away from Casey down the beach still looking for Bryer. And I turn around and I see he has put all his stuff down he is fumbling with the hoodie he “brought for Bryer” and see a ring box. That point I knew what the hell he was doing. I drop my shoes and phone behind me and get closer to him. I honestly blacked out and did not hear a word he said till he said my name and will you marry me. When he opened the box, upside down. I reached down kissed him and said yes. And when I looked at the ring, it was perfect. He got exactly what I wanted. I am not a diamond person. I love nature and flowers, and I wanted an opal because it is my birthstone. After crying and hugging him, the photographer came over and introduced herself and we did a little photo session. The whole time I was thinking no way this just happened. He did everything I wanted. Him, me, secret photographer, and my nails were done. After we got all the photos done. I started calling everyone: Dad, Mom, Teresa, Sabrina, Krystal, and Casey’s family. While video chatting with his mom, she told me Casey had actually designed my ring, and I instantly thought it was even more special that he would take the time and design something for me. I cried again. Thinking this man is amazing and I can’t wait to marry him.
