Josh and I have known each other since Kindergarten at Jefferson R7. We became boyfriend and girlfriend starting in second grade and were on and off through the fifth grade. He and I went on our first date to see the movie "Michael" with John Travolta. I was only able to go for two reasons 1. my mom and josh's mom grew up in the same neighborhood and their siblings played together growing up and 2. my sister Courtney had to go with us. After 8th grade, Josh and I went to different high schools and drifted apart but after the both of us were actively serving in the military - he the Marines and I the Navy - he reached out to me on Facebook to see how everything was going. We talked every once in a while and then in 2016, I reached out to him after seeing a post about his brother Zac getting married. He was stationed at Ft Leonard Wood at the time with another year and a half to go until he completed his enlistment. We talked a lot and after his many attempts to get me to go out on a date with him, I finally caved and we met at Main and Mill. We hadn't seen each other since 8th grade so to say I was nervous is an understatement. It was on the weekend of Valentine's Day...so no pressure there...but he gave me a card saying he didn't want the only card I received to be from Landon and Parker. He was so thoughtful and we talked for hours about our lives and what we wanted for our future. We dated for a year before moving in together and two years later, he proposed. The day he proposed, he took me to the Sunflower Maze - it was so hot and I was super crabby, complaining about the heat, my hair sticking to the back of my neck, the ground being uneven and muddy and just wanting to go back to the truck in the A/C. We got through to the end when he grabbed my hand and got down on one knee. I remember the feeling of excitement and the emotions but not one word of what he said other than the big "Will you marry me?" and me saying "YES" in between sobs.
