Enjoy a sunset on the sound. Where it all began.
Hayman Blvd Gazebo is the place where Jeremiah proposed on May 22, 2024. If you want an amazing place to enjoy the sunset and see a place close to us; maybe stop by for an hour.
North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island
We visit the Sea Turtle Assistance and Rehabilitation (STAR) Center every year. You can also track some of their rehabilitated turtles!
Jennette's Pier
Despite a chilly day we enjoyed a nice walk, and enjoyed the sightseeing here. They have excellent fishing, and several large aquariums inside the pier house, which also houses a handful of educational exhibits.
Jockey's Ridge
This place is Yuki's favorite, mostly because it's not the ocean. We hike every year to the top of the sand dunes and once even spotted the famous disappearing castle. Just remember to bring pleanty of water and comfotable shoes...(or go barefoot like us).
Nags Head Woods Preserve.
The Nags Head Woods preserve is a great place for hiking, there is even a hike that takes you to the sound side for some great views. We enjoy it when we (or rather Yuki) needs a break from the beach, or a touch of home.

Here are some of our favorite stops while on vacation. If you are having trouble finding a spot to eat, try one of these! If you want some awesome oysters along with other sea food try Awful Arthur's Oyster Bar. BBQ more your thing? Try Pigman's Carolina Bar-B-Que! Some other options are: Barefoot Bernie's, Kill Devil Grill, Sugar Shack Fish market. Want to grab a drink in a former house of god? Try Outer Banks Brewing Station! If you want a fun trip, try the coffee shop in Duck at the Duck's Cottage! No day is complete without a stop at Cookies and Cream Ice cream shop!
