It all began on May 23, 2022, in a classroom in Clearwater. Casey, ever the early bird, was front row, ready to tackle the first day of her CCIM 102 course. She was focused, prepared—and saving a seat for a friend. That is, until David walked in. David had just arrived from out of town and was scanning the room when he spotted Casey sitting up front. He made a beeline to her table, asked if the seat was taken, and—despite her polite protest that it was—sat down anyway. That moment kicked off a week of unexpected connection, lunchtime conversations, and lots of low-key flirting. By the third day of class, the two found themselves sitting side by side at a happy hour, deep in conversation and eager to know more. When Casey had to leave early to walk Alfie, David made a valiant effort to catch her before she left—but missed his chance. Not one to give up, he got her number from a mutual classmate (thanks, Jannie!) and sent a text later that night asking her to dinner. Their first date was the very next night—and they’ve been together ever since. From there, they dove into a two-year long-distance relationship, traveling back and forth across Florida between Tampa and Palm City. There were countless road trips, playlists, and FaceTimes, all centered around the stretch of highway that connected them: State Road 60. In August 2024, David made the move to Tampa, cat in tow, to start the next chapter with Casey and Alfie under one roof. And on the first Saturday of June, David proposed on Mount Washington in Pittsburgh by singing a song he wrote called “State Road 60.” With a guitar in hand, he sang their story and asked her to marry him. Now, they spend their days soaking up sunsets, chasing concerts, trying new recipes, going on adventures, and snuggling their little cat and dog. They’re thrilled to finally celebrate their love with all of you—and can’t wait to write the next chapter of their story together.
