Getting Married!

We met by chance at a music festival called Firefly in Delaware. Charlie flew out from Los Angeles for a bachelorette party. Newly single and committed to remaining so for a while, she rode into the festival, hoping to celebrate a friend’s marriage rather than planting any seeds of her own. But then, we all know how quickly love can come to those who aren’t looking for it. Casey went as well, happy to strike out alone to see what time and circumstance, merged with the music and revelry of a festival, might bestow. With the stirrings of summer and the foundation of a career, Casey bought a year's membership to match.com within a week of the festival. For him, looking for love seemed less fortuitous than making oneself available to it. Coming from such different directions, the encounter and connection were anything but inevitable. But, for Casey, there was nothing so inevitable but that he should fall in love with the owner of that enchanting smile and incandescent laugh. And for Charlie, there was nothing so attractive as a man who had a sharable supply of potable water with no sign of disposable plastic to be seen. The fact of their 2,657 mile separation proved a small obstacle in comparison to the love that began that night. Much of the remaining weekend was spent with Casey trying to keep up with Charlie and fitting in seamlessly with her friends; but composed mostly of those moments of laughter, fun, food, and dancing that have proven precursors to our life together. Over the five years between the day of our meeting and our wedding, we’ve known a happiness and fulfillment no amount of intuition could have predicted. We’ve had adventures great and small, but nearly always together. Through effort, patience, and a kindred craziness, these adventures have led us deeper into a love to last a lifetime. There is nothing we look forward to more than having our friends and family share in one of the most special days this adventure may ever know.
