Casey & Bree met in February 2013 while they were stationed at Homestead ARB. If you've ever heard the story; you know they didn't hit it off right away. Bree thought he was an ass; but she didn't have the option of avoiding him since they were coworkers and had so many mutual friends. She decided to move past their first interaction and not hold it against him. Over the next few months, they took some time to get to know each other. Casey eventually took Bree to her first MLB game on their first date. They continued to hang out casually, but things didn't really get serious until they deployed to Bagram in January 2014. While deployed Casey & Bree maintained the same aircraft, so they worked opposite shifts and had different off days. Each week, one would sacrifice some of their sleep to spend a few hours together on the other's day off. Their fondest memories are of Green Beans coffee dates and watching Olympic Curling in the dining facility. When they returned in May; Casey only had a little over a month left in his contract and had already lined up a job in the UAE. They decided to give long-distance a try and used the time they had left to meet each other's families. At the end of June, Bree returned to base alone and Casey began to prepare for his move. Bree went back to Pennsylvania a month later to see Casey off, but to her surprise, he had more planned for them. On August 3, 2014, Casey decided to take a "detour" on the way to dinner so that Bree could see his favorite part of the Gettysburg Battlefield. Despite the rain, lightning, and what felt like 20 flights of stairs; they climbed to the top of the METAL observation tower. Oblivious to her surroundings; all Bree could do while she looked out at the view of the Battlefield was complain about how hungry she was. She hadn't even realized Casey had left her side. When she turned to face him, their eyes met, and he was down on one knee.
