The two met as classmates in American Literature. One was excited about learning the material and the other was excited to learn about Casey. Just friends at first - it took a year for sparks to fly.
Both were hesitant to start a relationship right before heading to college in different parts of the country, but they quickly realized they had something too special to let go. Those first few years of the relationship were carried out over a series of cross-country visits to Washington, DC and Madison, WI, reunions in Minnesota over the holidays, and many hours spent on Skype.
After graduating from college, Casey and Brad said goodbye to long distance and hello to a 700 square foot studio apartment in DC. Wow. A year later they moved to Chicago to pursue their professional goals and a slightly larger living space.
On a Friday morning with no work to do, Casey woke up to rose petals, champagne and Brad on one knee. After some beautiful words, he presented a ring box, upside down, holding the diamond of Casey's dreams. Casey said yes, Brad may or may not have cried, and now we get to have a wedding.
