The saying “timing is everything” has special meaning to us because it couldn’t have been more perfect for our story. Leading up to where our story begins, Annie and I’s lives had so many parallels as we both attended the University of Nebraska and had both lived in Des Moines for some time before our paths crossed. Fortunately for us, our life experiences and careers had reached a point where we were finally ready for one another. I first met Annie through a mutual friend and the weeks following we kept running into each other. From social events to the random encounter during our weekday lunch breaks, I just couldn’t help myself from noticing this beautiful girl who had an infectious smile and a unique enthusiasm for life. It took weeks of countless encounters and opportunities before I finally worked up enough courage to ask Annie on a date. To my disappointment, Annie turned down my request along with four other succeeding requests. Yep, I eventually got the hint. A couple weeks had passed by where I had come to terms that Annie just isn’t interested. However, surprisingly and unexpected like many of our random pleasant encounters, Annie texted me on a Sunday to see if I wanted to join her for coffee. Well, coffee eventually led to sushi and since then our lives have been filled with love, joy and an endless amount of happiness. To this day, we often go back to our beloved little coffee shop, Zanzibar, and sit at the same table where it all began and then follow it up with our favorite Sushi bar Akebono. We are so pleased and grateful for our friends and family, and we are especially grateful for the opportunities that brought us together.
