Casey was only a few months into her spontaneous move to San Diego when she was invited to dinner with friends. While she considered passing on dinner since it was raining (a rarity in sunny San Diego!) she figured she shouldn't pass up the invite and decided to go. The stars were clearly aligned as Andrew, feeling the same way about the weather, joined that same dinner. Their connection was instant and the next day Andrew took Casey on their first date. But the universe wasn't completely in their favor. Andrew had just decided to move home to Upstate New York to consider a career change and he was leaving San Diego in three weeks. Over those next few weeks, Casey and Andrew spent almost every day together and by the end, decided to continue their relationship long distance. After three long months of phone calls, texting, FaceTime and one amazing trip to Denver; Andrew moved back to San Diego and the rest is history!
The start of 2019 was set to be a big year from the beginning. Andrew had just accepted a job promotion that would be moving them to Dallas, Texas and while most of the month was spent preparing for the move, they were looking forward to a few days in Dana Point with Casey's family before their new apartment was ready. After spending the day with family finding out the gender of Matron of Honor, Jessica's, second baby, Casey decided to take a very out of character nap. When she finally woke up, Andrew was insistent on taking their puppy, Koda, on a walk. The three headed out on a walk they had taken many times when visiting Dana Point which went through Carroll and Ahmed's neighborhood, into a resort and finally ending on Salt Creek Beach. At the top of the hill, Andrew suggested they take a break at one of the overlooks and instead of sitting down next to Casey, Andrew got on one knee and proposed. After getting over the shock and finally saying "yes!" they took the same walk home and spent the night celebrating with Casey's family.
