We will always remember the date June 16th, 2014, not only because it's the day the we both started our careers as civil engineers, but more importantly, because it was the the day we met. As co-workers, we started grabbing lunch together, or the occasional beer after work, but after months of being just friends, there was no denying the chemistry. We quickly became integrated with each other's friends and families, traveled to adventurous new places, and went through some life changing experiences together; but we'll never forget meeting across the conference room table at orientation.
It was the Friday before Christmas, so our office in the River North neighborhood of Chicago was full of excitement for the holidays to begin. We had plans with our co-workers to go to a holiday-themed bar and rooftop to celebrate the end of the work year. Andrew asked Casey if she wanted to get dinner after the holiday happy hour. He chose the Purple Pig, one of our first and favorite date spots, and Casey, of course, agreed to the spontaneous date night invitation! After a great meal, Casey was actually the one who suggested we go for a walk along the Riverwalk, just like we did the first time we went to the restaurant, and since it was a "warm" December night. Casey fell right into Andrew's plan. We went to the edge, where the river meets the lake near DuSable Harbor, and Andrew got down on one knee. Casey could not have been more shocked, and said YES! Andrew's bestman, Kevin, was there to snap some photos and we headed to O'Donovans to meet a group of our family and friends. It was one of the best nights of our lives, that we will definitely cherish forever.
