It’s a tale as old as time: boy meets girl on a dating app. Girl unsure if boy is cool enough. Boy accidentally pays for 20 person birthday dinner at fancy restaurant and girl decides he might be ok after all. Thats the short version. The year was 2016. I was starting my first year of Family Medicine Residency and Ada was breaking hearts down in Sugarland, Texas. Fortunately for me, in 2016 i still had a hairline and so my confidence was at an all-time average. We first matched on Bumble. I gave her my phone number after a few well placed jokes, and asked her to text me. NO RESPONSE. For the whole week I refused to open the app and look. I was trying desperately NOT to be desperate. As any self respecting man would do, I then began swiping on Tinder and up popped Ada! I took a chance and swiped right again, AND WE MATCHED! I asked her “heyyyy, so how come you didn’t call?” “I DID!” Was her response. It was only then that I realized I had messed up the last number of my phone #, and proceeded to BEG her to go out with me. Luckily, she obliged, and we met for our first date at a coffee shop south of Houston. I knew right off the bat she was special. It took her a little longer. But not to worry! A few long months later, we were dating. A few shorter years later we had a little doggie. And now, it seems like time just keeps on flying by, but I still can’t get enough of this girl.
