I first heard the name 'Mason Reed' when Casey texted me saying she and Mason had made plans to hang out. Just like any best friend would do, I asked, “Who is he? Where did you meet him? Is he a nice guy? What does he look like?” She responded that he was a football player at Tech, and they had met through work. I didn’t think much about their relationship until Casey told me that Mason was finishing football practice and then driving to Rockport to spend time with her family over the Fourth of July. At that point, I knew this guy was crushing pretty hard. Casey said they were “just friends," but there was NO WAY a guy was driving nine hours just to spend time with a “friend.” She texted me from Rockport and told me that he told her he was going to marry her, which I assumed would totally freak Casey out, but oddly, it didn’t. We didn’t have normal talks about where we thought the relationship would go, because we didn’t need to. I never had to ask if he was the one, or how she felt, because I could tell. All the things she had always wanted in a husband were so evident in Mason. They both pursue the Lord above all else, and seek His guidance in every step of their relationship. After about a year of dating one another, Mason reached out to me in December saying he was ready to propose, and I was ECSTATIC! He explained that when he finally stopped looking and gave it to God that’s when he found Casey. I know the same goes for her. As Casey walked down the staircase to find Mason waiting with both ring and Bible in hand, I couldn’t fight the tears back. God’s faithfulness is so good and a perfect example was right in front of me. With all of that said, I could not be more proud of the man my best friend is marrying. He pursues her each and every day, is a godly leader, and brings out the best in her. I’m so grateful that these two found each other, and that we get to share in the celebration of their love this December!
