If you're here reading this, you're probably wondering, man, was this whole engagement just an elaborate scheme? Is there a heist involved? Will there be a best-selling book, then a movie deal, then a limited HBO series and companion podcast describing it? The answer, of course, is yes, but that doesn't mean we're not still going to have this wedding. We can do both. We started this year unsure if our target date (August 28) was feasible, but thanks to the resumption of a functioning government and the wonders of modern medical science, it looks like, remarkably, we're going to be able to get married this year. Please continue to be safe - we wish you all speedy vaccinations and joyful re-entries into the world as it used to be, and really hope we'll see you this summer! Please note that all of our guests will need to provide a vaccine record card before entering the wedding venue, for the safety of all assembled.
It is said Doug emerged, fully formed, from the place where the sea meets the shore; that he is lord of both but bound by neither. It is said that he strode forward, eyes blazing, a trail of searing steam and sparks marking his wake, into the icy white of a polar storm. It is said that Casey was sculpted from high mesa clay, fired in the blazing kiln of the desert sun and sharpened by its icy nights. Those who have seen her say she is the darkness driven ever westward by the rising sun. Somewhere between the icy planes and sharp mountain ridges, they met, and some time in 2021, they will be wed.
