We met at Bahia Principe resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. I was on spring break with my college friends and he was with his family and family friends! (shout-out to the Saffrons) We hit it off and instantly felt that we had known each other our whole lives. I still had a couple of months left of college but Brian didn't mind. We called or facetimed one another until I graduated and came home. CRAZY!
Our first date was the Wednesday after I had moved back home from UMass Amherst. I was so nervous!!! Brian convinced me to drive all the way to Massapequa to go to the Good Life (a restaurant in town). The moment I saw him after months of phone calls and facetime, I immediately felt at ease again. We ate burgers and ended the night with coffee from Dunkin!
We met on a beach and it was only fitting he proposed to me on one too. One thing about Brian and I is that we love the beach. We spend almost every day we have off together in the summer at the beach. When he got his new truck, we started going to Gilgo's off-roading beach. Brian brings his grill and makes us breakfast, lunch and dinner there. Funny thing is, we used to go to Gilgo beach together when we first started dating. So the Monday before we were set to travel to Barbados for our summer vacation, he proposed to me at Gilgo beach. We planned to get to the beach early to have the whole day there like usual. Right after I got out of the truck - I went down to the water to look for some seashells. When I got back up to the truck to show him my shells, he had convinced me to look out into the water claiming there was a whale or dolphin in the water. By the time I had turned around to tell him I didn't see a thing - he had gotten down on one knee and proposed!!! It was only the two of us on the beach and it was the most special moment of our lives. It's crazy to think that seven summers before, I had made a wish on a shooting star at that very beach & now here we are and that wish is coming true. ♡
