The Proposal Story- Part 1

May 23rd, 2020

Once upon a time, I was going to propose to Meg at Acadia National Park, but then the pandemic paused that plan. No worries, I am a former teacher, which taught me the very important skill of improvising. With the help of some amazing friends and family, I brought Acadia to Fort Collins, Colorado. First stop was the visitor's center. Here, we picked up t-shirts, stickers, an ornament, a hat, magnet, and the most important thing to have at a National Park, a map of Acadia. Next, we headed out to "Jordan Pond". Here, we had some vegan cupcakes to celebrate Meg's birthday (I tricked her into believing this was an early birthday celebration) and watched some informational videos about Jordan Pond from some of Meg's closest friends. When the clock struck 2:30, we had to head out to our next stop, "Thunder Hole". At Thunder Hole, we watched more informational videos from some family members and friends before heading to our next stop. The next stop took us to "Sand Beach". Our friends really leaned into the theme and we had the best time celebrating Meg's birthday with socially distanced badminton. Again, here we watched some more videos from Meg's dear friends, and again, they nailed it. Our fifth stop took us to "Bass Harbor Lighthouse", where a friend made a working light house. More amazing videos, great conversations, and some tasty food later, and we were on our way to the sixth stop. When we arrived at "Mount Desert Island" we were greeted with beautiful sidewalk decorations and great company. Here, we had a fantastic socially distanced island themed hangout with some great Mount Desert Island facts. The last stop... Some friends scoped out a perfect spot for me to propose at "Cadillac Mountain" during sunset. While Meg was opening a "birthday" present, I got down on one knee and apparently said (I don't remember, because I was so nervous), "I know I want to spend the rest of my life with you, how about we start today? Will you marry me?" SHE SAID YES!!

The Proposal Story- Part 2

October 2, 2020

In October, Meg scheduled a photoshoot with a local photographer in Rocky Mountain National Park. Once the photographers took us to their favorite spot (on a freaking cliff), Meg dropped down on one knee and proposed back to me. Of course the first thing I said was, "OMG, please stand up, you're on the edge of a cliff," but that was quickly followed by a resounding, "YES!!" BUT THERE'S MORE... Next, we went to a friend's house (outside and socially distanced) and she asked me if I wanted to get married that weekend! Y'all, my sister, that just got ordained, flew in from DC, and Meg located the most beautiful spot, found her perfect dress, and bought me a suit. That weekend, I was literally whisked off of my feet to a magical place in the mountains of Colorado with my dogs, my sister, and my bride to be. Although we have been legally married for over a year, we have always wanted to celebrate with our friends and family, and we cannot wait to see you soon!

For all the days along the way
